Visiting Colony Court
UPDATE: April 1, 2021
Dear Families and loved ones of Colony Court Residents,
Last week you received an informational email about how we are beginning to open to the doors to the buildings. Here are a few maintenance items that we would like to address.
Self-Screening
- It is imperative that we continue to do symptom screening upon entering the building. The adjustment that we have made to this is that you will now be allowed to self- screen. Please answer the questions on the screening sheet next to the door and please ensure that you are taking your temperature.
The Halls
- Please remember that we ARE still in the middle of a pandemic. It has been a nice change of pace seeing more friendly faces around the building. We are requesting that when you enter the building you go directly to your loved one’s room. Walking around the halls and through the building leisurely (taking your loved one on a walk inside the building) is not recommended via the MDH guidelines that are published.
Visitations
- Easter is approaching us. Can I take my loved one to our family gathering? Do they have to quarantine after? These are all great questions.
- The state guidelines outline that if you are 2 weeks out from your last dose of the COVID-19 vaccination that indicates you are fully vaccinated. If you are fully vaccinated a 14-day quarantine is not needed UNLESS you are in a high exposure situation – a vaccinated person can still be a carrier of the virus. Vaccinated people can gather with vaccinated people. Please continue to practice the core Covid 19 infection control practices.
- If you are not vaccinated a 14-day quarantine would be initiated. This in accordance with the MDH guidelines that we are required to follow.
Dining/Activities
- MDH has now released new dining guidelines. Today residents can come back together to eat and conversate. Residents are now able to participate in activities as one group again as well.
We are slowly but surely getting some “normalcy” back within the building. This is a positive thing. We again, thank you for your understanding and continued patience.

UPDATE: March 22, 2021
Dear Family and Friends of Colony Court,
We value the important role of family and friends in the lives of our residents. State and federal regulators have issued new guidance on how we can safely open to more visitors.
The new guidance now provides more opportunities for fully vaccinated residents to have in-person visits with loved ones in our settings and in the community.
- In addition to opening our doors visitors with fewer restrictions, the new guidance allows residents who are fully vaccinated to come and go without the need to quarantine upon return.
- Definition of fully vaccinated: People are considered fully vaccinated for COVID-19 two (2) weeks after their second dose of a vaccine that requires two (2) doses (like Pfizer of Moderna) or two (2) weeks after they get a single dose of a vaccine that requires one dose (like Johnson & Johnson)
- Visitations in resident rooms: If a resident has been fully vaccinated a resident may have up to 4 visitors in their room. Following the COVID-19 rules – masks, 6 feet apart, social distancing, hand washing. Please remember with the beautiful spring weather gracing us, outside visits are a safe option as well this will also help us keep the amount of extra people within the building to a minimum.
We believe the risk of COVID-19 transmission in our setting can be safely and appropriately balanced with visits from families and friends.
- We are taking all the necessary and required measures to protect our residents and staff while we provide a safe opportunity for socialization and visitation.
- We will follow the core infection control protocols that have helped us effectively respond to COVID-19 and rapidly respond to changing conditions, including screening of all visitors for signs and symptoms of COVID, hand hygiene, face coverings and social distancing.
- We are working swiftly to interpret and confirm details, revise policies, educate staff and prepare to welcome loved ones with fewer restrictions in place. We are taking all the necessary, required measures to protect our residents and staff and we are following the guidance provided by state and federal regulators.
- Please be patient as we roll out this next phase in opening visitation. As the virus is still being transmitted throughout our state, we may need to change visitation options based on overall status of COVID-19 in our community.
Safety is a shared responsibility.
- We continue to all have a role in protecting our community and each other from this virus.
- All visitors must comply with our screening protocols and other infection control measures when they visit with their loved one. Colony Court main doors will be unlocked during normal business hours, please wait to be screened by our office/ floor staff. If you are entering the facility after normal business hours and or the weekend please use the doorbell, staff will answer the door as quickly as their schedule allows.
- You are a partner in helping protect our residents and staff from this virus. We ask that you understand the requirements and procedures we have put in place are based on state and federal guidance. We invite you to work with us, as partners in caregiving, to abide by them.
We are very excited to be able to offer visiting with your loved ones at Colony Court.
