Colony Court Resident Profile

Say Hello to Thelma

Thelma Kormann

Colony Court Resident

This month of January 2021 brings us to introduce another of our newer residents, Thelma Kormann.

Thelma was born a Cassem in January of 1931 on her grandparent’s farm in Martin Co., MN. When she was six, the family moved to New Richland where she attended country school with her two brothers and three sisters. When she was 17, she started working at Land O Lakes candling eggs. She married Lowell Kormann in 1951 and moved to Texas until he was discharged from Fort Bliss. They then moved back to New Richland and started their family of two boys and a girl. Thelma worked for Land O Lakes for a few years, then took a job at Wilson’s Meat Packing in Albert Lea, retiring in 1988.

For many years, the Kormann family enjoyed their free time traveling in their camper. After they retired, Thelma and Lowell moved to Texas, where Thelma took up the guitar. She played with many groups and was a member of two small bands. After Lowell passed away, she moved back to New Richland and partnered with her sister-in-law. They sang and played at many local senior centers, senior homes and nursing homes. This fall Thelma fell and damaged her pelvis. After treatment she decided it was time to move into an assisted living facility. She knew people at Colony Court and decided to make it her home.

We’re glad you decided to make this your home too, Thelma, and welcome!

Thank You

My dad and our family were so blessed to have such an amazing group of people care for my dad. Along with getting to know the other residents was truly a wonderful gift. They are all our second family.”
